How long does a slate roof last?

Properly installed natural slate roofs commonly last 75–125 years; some Vermont slate installations exceed 150 years. The flashing, ridge, and fasteners are the typical points of failure long before the slate itself.

What's the difference between natural slate and DaVinci synthetic slate?

Natural slate is quarried stone; DaVinci synthetic slate is a polymer-blend tile molded from real slate masters. Natural slate lasts 75–125 years and weighs 700–900 lbs per square. DaVinci synthetic slate has a 50-year warranty, weighs roughly 250 lbs per square, and fits standard residential framing without structural reinforcement. For homes that cannot carry natural slate weight, DaVinci is the right answer.

Can my home structurally support natural slate?

Many North Shore homes built before 1940 were framed for slate; many built after were not. We always assess structural capacity before recommending natural slate — and recommend DaVinci synthetic slate when reinforcement is not feasible.

Do you offer cedar shake roof repair, or only full replacement?

Both. We handle cedar shake repair for storm damage, individual shake replacement, and full cedar shake roof replacement when the roof has reached end-of-life.

What manufacturers do you install?

DaVinci Roofscapes (synthetic slate and shake), premium Western Red Cedar, Vermont Slate Co. and Buckingham (natural slate), and Eagle Roofing, Boral, and Ludowici (clay and concrete tile).

How long does installation take?

A typical specialty roof installation runs 1–3 weeks depending on roof size, material, and weather. Natural slate and clay tile take longer than synthetic. We tarp the work area daily and weather-manage scheduling.

What warranty comes with my roof?

Full manufacturer material warranty (50-year limited lifetime for DaVinci; varies for slate, cedar, and tile by manufacturer) plus our workmanship warranty [NEEDS USER INPUT: specific workmanship terms].
